Dressage Saddles: Fit for Comfort and Freedom of Movement

Author: James Craig

Dressage saddles are supportive structures for riders that are used in horse riding and are specially made for Dressage. Dressage is a horse riding discipline in which the horse is trained to perform a series of accurate controlled movements. In this discipline, the horse is trained to reply to minimal signal from its rider. There are two activities in which dressage saddles are required, Dressage training and Dressage event.

A Dressage saddle is an equestrian saddle that is designed with a long and straight saddle flap, which mirrors the leg of the dressage rider. Its long flap features a slight bend in the knee. It also has a deep seat and a knee block that is usually pronounced. Dressage saddles are generally placed over a square, white saddle pad.

Dressage saddles are British saddles, which are used for British riding and in all the Olympic equestrian disciplines. British saddles differ from other saddle styles in its flatter appearance, the absence of horn, and the self-padding design of the panels.

There are other sorts of British saddles apart from Dressage saddles, for example the jumping saddles or jump seat saddles. British saddles usually differ from among themselves in the length and angle of the flaps, the depth of the seat and height of the cantle. These differences perform a part in the use for which a selected saddle is structured. Dressing saddles and jumping saddles are both British saddles but they have different constructions.

A Dressage saddle is used in dressage discipline in which the rider sits more upright. So the Dressage saddle was designed with a longer stirrup as well as longer and straighter down saddle flaps. On the other hand, a jumping saddle is used for a discipline that involves jumping, where the rider desires shorter stirrups for additional support. This is why the jumping saddle is designed with a forward-cut flap.

A Dressage saddle has higher cantle and pommel to give the rider with a deeper seat. While on the jumping saddle, the cantle as well as the pommel is low so that they do not interfere with the rider's jumping position.

Padding in Dressage saddle is mostly smaller than in jumping saddle to permit the rider to move freely to give help to the pony. Inversely , padding in the seat and knee rolls of a jumping saddle will assist the rider.

On a Dressage saddle, the seat is much deeper than that of the jumping saddle to permit the rider to comfortably sit up in a cool position. Also, the seat is nearer to the pony's withers to help to keep the rider's center of balance in the correct place. While on the jumping saddle, the seat is comparatively flat to give the rider more liberty of movement particularly when jumping. Its seat is also positioned further back so the rider isn't pushed before the saddle when jumping a fence.

In selecting a Dressage saddle, it is critical you and your pony completely. To grasp what saddle will fit your horse, measure your horse from its hoof to its withers and then from its withers to its croup. Try to sit on many Dressage saddles to find one that is most cushty for you.

If you ride more than one horse, you do not have to buy for each one. Choose a saddle that may fit both you and your horses. Try gel pads that will conform to your horses' shapes to help you find your saddle. Your saddle should fit in such a manner that there's sufficient room between the gullet and the pony's withers. It should also be spaced over the backbone evenly.

If you are on a tight budget, there are Dressage tack shops that sell used Dressage saddles. You may find used British saddles in some British tack shops. Visit as many saddle shops as possible to become familiar with the brands, styles and prices.

Motorcycle Helmets - A Style For Every Rider Preference

Author: Matt LeClair

Motorcycle Helmets are becoming a necessity when it comes to rider gear not only because it they are mandatory in many states, but riders are becoming more and more conscientious about their safety when they're out on the road.  Shopping for this product has become more and more complicated because of the different types available to shoppers and it's important to identify which is going to be more suited for the rider.

Here are some of the different types of motorcycle helmets available today:

DOT Motorcycle Helmets

These type of helmets include all styles of helmet from half to full face and are named DOT because of the standards that they must pass in order to be considered safe for riders.  These type of helmets are made for safety with their thick inner liners and tough outer shells.  Many motorcyclists base their shopping on the fact that their helmet must meet DOT standards for their own preference, or because it is required.  Many biker safety courses require the use of DOT helmets so that has led to an increase in demand for this type.

Full Face Motorcycle Helmets

These helmets encompass the entire head so no surface is left exposed.  Full face helmets have thick shell and inner liner and provide the most protection for the rider.  They are equipped with face masks that open and close, which provides air circulation for the rider.  This type of helmet is available in many different styles and is very popular among the sport bike riders.

Motorcycle Half Helmets

Perhaps one of the most popular types of helmet to those that ride cruisers, the half helmet is a half shell helmet that sits on the riders head and only extends down to about the level of the rider's ears.  There are many variations of the half helmet, and some are smaller than others which may be preferred.  The half helmet is popular because of the freedom that it provides to riders by not having their entire head enclosed in a helmet.

Modular Helmets

This type of motorcycle helmet is very similar to the full face version.  The only difference is that the front portion of the helmet that surrounds the face can be flipped up into an upright position, leaving the face exposed which allows for more circulation and ventilation.

Novelty Helmets

The novelty motorcycle helmet is similar in shape and style to the half helmet.  The difference between the two is that the novelty helmets are made with a much smaller construction because of the fact that there is a very small inner liner.  So these types of helmets often times provide the smallest profile look possible.  The only drawback to these helmets is the fact that they provide very little protection to the rider because there is no inner protective liner.  If a sleek look is what you're looking for though, this is your best option.

Shopping for a motorcycle helmet can be a time consuming task but if you have a good idea of what you're looking for, then your experience will be much more pleasant and less stressful.

Motorcycle Half Helmets - Small Construction, Large Freedom Factor

Author: Matt LeClair

Motorcycle half helmets are providing riders with the freedom that they're looking for when they have to put on a helmet in order to go riding on their motorcycle.  That's why a small construction is an important factor that is considered when making a helmet purchase.  Many riders don't want a helmet that is large and bulky like the full face helmet, so they're turning to the half helmet for their purchase.

The half helmet is essentially made of half the material that is required when making it's larger counterpart the full face version.  Often times, they are made with much less material which is how they come to be so small and provide such a low profile.  Some are smaller than others because of the fact that they may have a smaller inner liner, but this doesn't necessarily mean that they provide the same amount of safety.

One good example of a helmet that doesn't provide whole lot of safety is the novelty helmet.  This product is made with the minimal amount of inner liner, which allows them to be so small in construction, and is also why they have such a low profile look that they have.  The downside to this benefit is that they do not provide very much safety value if you're looking from that perspective because they lack the tough liner that protects your head in a crash.

If safety is your concern, but you still want a helmet that is small and lightweight, then you might consider a DOT motorcycle helmet which has all of the features that make for a safe helmet.  These helmets are required to meet certain standards when it comes to their construction, which mainly includes the standard of how well the helmet can hold up to high impact collision.  DOT motorcycle helmets are made with a thick inner liner that is composed of a very tough material which also provides a bit of cushion for your head.  They are also made with a tough outer shell, usually a polycarbonate material, which is very durable and able to withstand high impact force.

Half helmets are available in many different shapes, styles, and colors so if you've got a particular style in mind, chances are pretty good that you'll be able to find what you're looking for.  So in the end, if you purchase a half helmet, you'll enjoy the freedom of a low profile helmet, and can still enjoy the safety benefits that they have to offer.

Motorcycle Radar Detector - The Price Of Freedom

Author: Dan Parker

Motorcycles have always been an expression of freedom for many of us. Motorcycles offer the mobility of a transport vehicle without being confined in the closed spaces of four wheel vehicles. Motorcycles have been growing in popularity with numerous clubs and organizations around it. They too are an economic way of moving around without killer gas pump prices. Traffic also presents no problems as motorcycles easily weave around them. Motorcycles are the new breed of horses, take them in a track or ride them in old country roads. They are versatile and owners find new uses for them everyday.

Technology has certainly brought us improvements in every aspect of our lives. But with every improvement it brings it has negative aspects that comes with it. We see traffic cameras all over the city. This the government claim aims to protect us and stop crimes from happening. There was also the advent of radar which tracks motorcycle speeds. Radars are useful when put into good use. Radars are used in ships and planes as navigational tools and in spaceships also. But with the advent of improvements of radar, the police have used this tool as a way of constraining speeds and abuse motorists sometimes. How often have you been pulled to the side by a traffic policeman and given a ticket. Your speedometer was registering speeds well within traffic speeds but was still given a ticket. There are also radar devices left in the streets and highways which capture your speeds and guess what a traffic citation comes to your doorsteps in a few days. Traffic tickets don’t come cheap and together with your daily grocery expenses can just leave you fuming.

Motorcycle Radar Detectors

Radar detectors have long been used in motor vehicles to defeat police radar systems. The newer radar detectors have proven to be good countermeasures against newer police systems. Motorcycle radar detectors are often small and light and can be detached from your vehicles. Newer police systems require constant upgrades to defeat them. Ground based radars and cameras have become popular nowadays. If you’re just tired of receiving those traffic tickets which you don’t have any idea on how you got them it’s time to buy a motorcycle radar detector. Motorcycle detectors are specifically designed for motorcycles and their riders. They are lightweight and compact and can easily be detached from your vehicles. Motorcycle radar detectors are relatively cheap compared to the ticket citations you might receive.

Motorcycles were built to be driven and an expression of freedom on the road. Big brother although with his best intentions has decided to curtail that freedom for safety. There are a lot of responsible motorcycle drivers and owners who just want to get away for the weekend and leave their troubles away. Motorcycle radar detectors give you that option to live that weekend drive.

ROSA PARKS: CHAMPION FOR CIVIL RIGHTS AND FREEDOM

Author: David Nalin

There are many stories of brave and rebellious patriots that have risen from the history of the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. Few are more celebrated than the quiet seamstress whose actions lead to the ultimate fall of legalized segregation. The story is of Rosa Parks, often referred to as the mother of the modern civil rights movement.

The day that Rosa Parks is most remembered for is December 1st, 1955. At the time Rosa was working as a seamstress at a local department store. At the time, segregation laws required that blacks enter the front of the bus to pay their fare then leave the bus and enter by the back door to take their seats. There was a section of seats in the back of the bus that was reserved for "colored" riders. Should a white rider enter the bus and be unable to find a seat, black riders were required to leave their seat to allow the white rider to sit down.

On this particular day Rosa Parks was tired of the injustice and not about to give up her seat. This was the day she decided to fight. She sat quietly in the first row of the section reserved for blacks. When the bus driver asked several blacks to move to make room for whites Rosa was the only rider who refused. Today was not to be the day for that. Without making a fuss Rosa Parks remained in her seat. This action was considered a crime for which the normal penalty was a fine.

Rosa Parks was not the first black woman to refuse to give up her seat. She was, however, the first one that the N.A.A.C.P. considered to be a good candidate to test the law. With the support of local leaders and a young Dr. Martin Luther King, Rosa went to court for her infraction. Rosa was known in the community to be above reproach. She was respected for her quiet strength and her high morals. To show their protest for the prosecution a bus boycott was organized to take place the day of the trial. Rosa was convicted.

Rosa Parks' story does not end here. She agreed to take the case to the next level and ultimately it resulted in a Supreme Court decision that overturned the constitutionality of Alabama's segregation laws. And so change began. This is considered to be a defining event of the American Civil Rights Movement. Rosa Parks' name became forever linked with the beginning of the struggle for equal rights for all races.

Becoming the face of the early Civil Rights Movement took a toll on Rosa Parks' life. She and her husband moved away from Montgomery to Virginia and finally Detroit. She continued to be active in the movement and in other social causes. She worked for many years for U.S. Representative John Conyers. After retirement she dedicated a great deal of her time to Planned Parenthood. She died at the age of 92 in 2005. More than half a century since she took her stand, Rosa Parks' name is still synonymous with civil rights activism, bravery, and freedom.

The Cost to Operate USA Inc Is Decreasing Our Economic Freedoms explained by Mike Farrell aspenIbiz

Author: aspenIbiz Mike Farrell
The growth of government, its various expenses, debts, and deficits, is causing many to ask, "what are they doing with the tax dollars they are collecting from me?"

As the Federal Government occupies an increasingly larger share of the country's economic landscape, it is worth a quick look at all the spending and the tax obligations that are being generated.

Not since a brief spike around the WWII timeframe has government expenditure gobbled up as large a percentage of the nation's GDP pie as it is gobbling up today.

The cost to run USA Inc at the start of the 20th century was a relatively modest 7% of the nation's entire economic activity. Today, these expenses account for almost 45% of the country's GDP (Gross Domestic Product).

As recently as 1950, total government expenses - including pensions, health care, education, national defense, welfare and all other spending - were still in the vicinity of $70 billion, or roughly 25% of the nation's GDP.

Just two decades later, that number had more than tripled (in nominal terms) to $322 billion, or around one third of the nation's GDP.

By 1990, the government's expense figure had reached just over $2 trillion, edging its way toward 35% of GDP.

Today, it weighs in at over $6.5 trillion and is projected to top $8.6 trillion by 2015.

Because politicians don't typically spend other peoples' money as prudently as they might spend their own, state-funded activity generally leads to a mountain of waste and, eventually, an even bigger mountain of debt.

According to figures compiled by the Peterson Foundation, the government's debt was over $180,000 per person in 2008. Since then, it has grown at more than $4.2 billion dollars per day. This includes expenses like servicing the interest payments on the national debt, maintaining armed forces in hundreds of permanent bases around the world, funding various and multiplying welfare programs, and paying the swelling public workforce more than the private market would ever tolerate for the services they tend to provide.

Why is this important? Because an increase in the size and cost of maintaining a welfare state is directly proportional to a decrease in economic freedoms for those who are forced (through taxation and other coercive measures) to sponsor it.

As important, is that as the state's presence in an economy grows, this presence equals more confiscation of private individuals' property and ultimately an unsupportable number of people living at the expense of the dwindling and productive few.

Unsurprisingly, Uncle Sam is cracking down and there is an ever-tightening noose of capital controls.

Recently a provision was slipped unceremoniously into the "Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment Act", aka 'the jobs bill,' which was passed into law on March 18, 2010. The provision "outlines new rules on 'Foreign Account Tax Compliance." The gist is that if you send more than over $50,000 to a foreign bank, not on good terms with the US, then the IRS will withhold 30% of it for possible tax claw back and the IRS will obtain a boatload of your private account information.

What's more, with trillion dollar annual deficits as far as the eye can see, there is little chance that the political pressure to "eat the rich" will ease up anytime soon.

Plus the classification of rich is changing to include those with $250K or more annual earnings, frequently mentioned by the US President; it might even drop to the $150K to $200k level frequently mentioned by the VP of the USA?

Whatever definition of "rich" sticks, it is clear we are losing more and more of our economic freedoms and our standard of living is on the decline to service the empire of debt accumulated by the overspending activities of USA Inc.

As such, it is only natural that a large number of people are quickly undertaking efforts to become savvy with their money, like the insiders, by obtaining sufficient financial education to see the loss of our economic freedoms and the lowering of our standard of living, for what it is … a way to finance a political and economic system that overspends and is creating a menace to our wealth and way of life. It is destroying the purchasing power, of the average person, for the next several generations, and creating a looming tax burden. This loss of purchasing power and increased taxation will significantly decrease our standard of living.

I favor a quote from Steve Forbes … Forbes says that pursuing additional financial education and the resulting increase in our financial literacy will open our eyes to alternative wealth creating strategies and this will be they key to resolving our financial crisis.

To gain the necessary financial education, it is best to pursue association with, access to, and membership in, a wealth creation community. As a result, you will learn about alternative wealth creating strategies, you will be able to consider investments in non dollar denominated or non fiat currency assets and you will learn secrets to grow and protect your financial future by using methods and techniques of the rich, like Bank On Yourself.

Bank On Yourself is a unique, powerful, and time-tested method that Wall Street, Banks, and Finance Companies do not want you to know. Being part of a wealth creation community, you will learn the secrets of the rich and understand that certain whole life insurance contracts with special features (not widely known) like a "paid-up additions rider" on the policy, enable you to become the source of financing for your home, home repairs, business equipment, college education, and other major purchases like cars, vacations, and even vacation or retirement homes. By using this method, you are able to pay yourself the interest that you would have paid to banks, if you had financed these purchases. You thereby reduce or eliminate the control these institutions have over you.

I trust this post provides a little more insight into the financial crisis that is upon us in terms of the empire of debt and the lowering of our standard of living. If you take control of your financial life, you can reduce the impact of the volatile stock market and the loss of your nest egg. You can use this insight to increase your lifetime wealth and reach your goals and dreams.

I will continue to provide examples of things we need to learn, the secrets of the insiders, as part of being savvy with our money, and introduce alternative wealth creating strategies, in future articles and updates at my blog over the next few weeks.

In addition, a great book to read would be the "Empire of Debt" by Bill Bonner & Addison Wiggin.

Get Cycling Again And Making A Break For Freedom

Author: Jamil

For many of cycling is a totally alien sport, cycling is something that we did when we were children to get away from the pressures of our parents and experience the freedom of being miles and miles away from home with no one to tell us what to do. But as we get older we lose the feeling of needing freedom and instead chose to be rooted to the spot and spend our time moving between our place of work and our homes. But for many of us deep down inside we still crave a small amount of freedom, a chance to break away from the realities and pressures of our work and to a degree our home life. So why not look to cycling to satisfy this urge?

Internet marketing

beauty tips

bollywood

When we were children we all wanted a new bike, there was not a year that went by without at least either one of our friends or us getting a sparkling new bike, those were indeed exciting days. Today for many of us the nearest we come to cycling is catching the odd glimpse of the Tour De France or the Giro d'Italian on our television screen or a Lycra clad cyclist out for a ride early on a Sunday morning.

So what is to stop you digging out that old bike that you bought five years ago and left in the shed to go all rusty? Why not make a break for a little freedom and try to once more enjoy the freedom that cycling afforded you when you were a child? If you have a family there is nothing to stop you taking the whole crew out for a ride once or twice a week and reveling on two wheels.

If you think that cycling is going to be the way forward for you then there are a few things that you can do to make to make the experience a little easier for yourself. Make sure that you and your complete family are kitted out properly for starters. Those Lycra clad Sunday riders know a thing or two about comfort, hence why they wear what they do. Cycling shorts have a soft padded seat sown into them to them make the ride a little more comfortable as well as minimizing the aches and pains of the post ride. These shorts will not totally alleviate any tender spots totally but they will go quite a way to helping you to potentially get back on the bike within two to three days. Any aches and pains that you feel in the seat area do pass with time when your body gets used to the feeling of sitting on a saddle for any length of time.

There are a few different types of cycling shorts available on the market, some with a synthetic padding in and some with the more traditional chamois leather padding. Both are as good as each other but the newer synthetic ones are easier to keep clean as they are machine washable and the chamois ones have to be washed by hand and then have a cream applied to them to keep the chamois supple.

So now is the perfect time to make that decision to make a break for it and get that bike out of the shed or garage and re-live the feeling of having the wind rushing through your hair and the freedom of the open road that you last felt when you were a child.
